Today we presented at the e-Government Strategy Workshop. Our client sponsor Dr. Katherine Getao is hosting this 2-day conference to present her new e-Government Strategy and give the opportunity to all ICT directors of the ministries, IT companies, academic partners and other stakeholders to provide input.
We didn´t really know what to expect and how our presentation on e-Government legislation would be received by this crowd. Over the past 2 weeks, we had analysed the current state of Kenyan e-Government legislation and researched existing Global Best Practices in e-Government from around the world. We were pretty confident that it would be OK, because Dr. Getao had said "fantastic" for about 30 times when going through our slide deck in a conference call the day before.
And indeed, our findings and recommendations were well-received. People were actually listening and making notes of what we said, while they would doze off during many of the other presentations. There was a vivid Q&A session afterwards and the legal drafter was really put under pressure if he was "sure that everything that these guys presented is in your draft".
